OSHA Visits

The Phone Rings- It’s the Foreman.

Oh great now, what have we forgotten?

Wrong. OSHA is on site.

Aw crap. Just what everyone wants to hear.

Panic sets in.

Do we have everything set up properly?

8 years prior, on the exact same job site, we were also visited.

After monitoring our crew for 40 minutes with no infractions visible. The inspector decided to come on the roof to inspect further. It’s his right, I suppose. But there were 20 other trades on the job site, all of which he did not visit. Curious. Just the roofers. Just our luck.

Will we get a fine for having 5100 square feet instead of 5000 square feet roped off for 1 fire extinguisher? Well yes, we did. Thanks Mr. Inspector.

Thoughts of this were rolling through my head. I made the necessary calls, to our safety director, and back to the foreman with some basic instructions, since site visits for us have been rare over the last few years.

Thankfully, after a brief meeting and inspection, we were cleared and commended for our safe practices.

Whew.

Feeling good.
