The Curious Case of the Thermoplastic

Inspected a roof of unknown age, but approximately 15 years old, a thinner mil TPO installed on a laundromat, we found the following on a leak call:

This is below a row of exhaust ducts, where the TPO is so worn, the scrim itself is free, and the bottom-ply of the TPO is cracked and missing in some spots.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen TPO scrim exposed, but this is by far the worst. It’s clear the dryer exhaust ducts are prematurely aging the product, which may not be in the best shape, but this is a wild detail noticed today.

Do with the information what you will, but it was weird and exciting enough to share.
